Can someone sum this up for me? There is alot of paperwork involved isn't there? How is this all done, Im really confused and I dont know where to start.

Read the financial aid website for each college very carefully about deadlines and instructions. They vary from college to college. Some don’t want tax returns, unless you are selected for verification. Some want the forms sent directly to the college. Others want the forms sent to the College Board’s IDOC service.

And it’s not that much work. You complete your taxes, print out a copy, sign that copy and then head to a copying machine where you make as many copies as needed of whatever the school wants. Then you put them in the mail.

Do NOT, however, send anything to a college unless they require or request it.

Yes, I am a Questbridge finalist and all 8 colleges I ranked require my parents tax returns. I haven’t told them yet for they don’t like to give out any personal information and it’s nearly taboo for them to tell me how much they make.

Didn’t you have to submit some kind of income information for your Questbridge application? This could net your family and you a very nice scholarship if they complete the paperwork ON TIME and you become a recipient. The bottom line is they will have to divulge their finances to receive ANY need based aid and most are not as generous at Questbridge.
