Senior applying to PENN STATE. HELP?

I am going to be a senior and I will be applying to colleges in a few months.
I am thinking of applying to Penn State but don't know if I will be accepted so I need help in deciding.
I am a Hispanic student, if that helps the whole "minority" deal.
GPA: 3.16
SAT: 1750 (I will be taking it again, and I'm thinking a 1900 this time)
I have taken Honors courses throughout my high school career.
I just took AP US History, English and Spanish. Pretty sure I'm getting 4's on all of them.

Athletics:
I am a Varsity athlete in Cross Country and Track and Field.

Extra-curricular Activities:
Student Government- Sophomore Class President, Student Body Treasurer, Student Body Vice President
Young Democrats- Treasurer
Anytown- I am a counselor at this camp that teaches diversity and acceptance.
Camp Swift- I am a counselor and volunteer at this camp that helps underprivileged kids.
SSBTR (Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research)- I will be coordinating a Brain Tumor walk with several other organizations.
Special Olympics- I help "special" athletes compete in Track and Field.

According to PSU’s Common Data Set ethnic status is not considered. [C. Freshman Admission](<a href=“Error Page”>Error Page) Your GPA is around the 17%ile and your SATs are near the 35%ile. Higher SATs would help since grades and scores are weighted the highest. If nothing else you could start at a satellite campus and transfer to University Park.

interesting that the common data set says that ethnic status is not considered bec. I believe there is an initiative to increase diversity at Penn State…I acutally think your SAT score will put you in range of admission…also Penn State uses your weighted GPA so that will likely be higher than your 3.16 since you have taken all honors… good luck I think that you have a good chance!

Are you instate for PSU?

The diversity thing may involve offering some merit money for URMs…it may not involve loosening entrance req’ts.

PSU is not known for giving a lot of financial aid.

Do you know if your parents will pay for PSU?
