Senior class schedule for Highschool

I have been taking french for 2 years (sophmore, and junior year). Next year I have the chance to take A french 3 class but it will have a conflict with another class offered that same class period. Should i take french 3? Or should i take it out off my schedule and take a french 101 course at a community college. Would colleges pefer a french college course than taking french 3 during school? Would they recognize the french 101 course as a 3rd year of language ( i would be taking this course during the first semester of senior year)?
I am hopefully applying to competitive colleges…

That answers your question. Yes, you should take another year of French. It does not matter if you take it in HS or at a CC…with one caveat as listed below.

Unlikely. Assuming you literally mean 101, that is a first semester class for those with no French experience. As the coursework is duplicative to what you’ve already done. Hopefully the CC has a placement test, and would place you in at least 102 or maybe 103, which would be recognized as a third year.

Yes you need French 3.
If you take it at a cc, you’d need to take second and third semester classes, not 101 (which is a first semester class and whose content would typically be equivalent to high school level 1+2).

The beginner college French course would probably be equivalent to high school French 1, or 1 and 2, and would not count as equivalent to high school French 3. If you choose to take a college French course, ask the college about placement or placement testing in order to take the appropriate next level French course.
