I am currently taking 5 APs right now, so my parents and guidance counselor have been telling me to drop APCS and study it while I am in college.
I joined this class because I like programming stuff. But I seriously bombed this one unit test, to the point where even getting a B would be difficult for this grading period. My parents found about this and were totally furious about it. Since then, they have been "recommending" me to drop the course and work on college apps already...
If I give up on this class, I will have more time to write college applications and to relax. On the other hand, if I don't, I need to give up on what I like. Moreover, I am applying for math or computer science field, so I think this class might partially impact the admission.
What should I do?

You’re likely going to take the class again, or at least a similar class, in college, so dropping APCS is probably not a bad idea if it’s going to seriously hurt your GPA. I took a Java class in HS (not AP), but then relearned it in college where the course is much better taught.

That isn’t right.

Could you talk to the teacher about it? They’d know more about your performance than anyone else you could be consulting. If you’re not understanding the material, you’re not really benefiting from the course anyway. But maybe the first test was the hardest, or maybe you might catch on if you stay with it.

In terms of college admissions, IMO a C or lower in AP Computer Science would be worse than not having it at all. (I want to be a math major and I can’t even figure out Excel half the time…math uses computers a lot, and I guess I should minor in computer science to make myself more employable if I decide not to go to grad school, but I intend to worry about that when I go to college.)

I would NOT drop it. if you drop it, it would look bad on your transcript. and having one CS class is better than none at all, or a low level one. this shows u really exerted yourself.
