I have mainly been an A student in highschool with AP and honors courses. However this first semester of senior year I have encountered very tough teachers resulting in my grades probably going to be mainly B's and possibly a C. Many of the schools I am applying to have deadlines around January 15. However my semester doesn't end till the 23rd. Could possibly my first semester grades not be considered in my app because it was after the application deadline?

I’m in the same situation as you

I applied to a school with a January 1st deadline and one with a January 15th deadline. On both of their websites, it said that mid-year reports will be considered in the application process, even though my school’s mid-year grades won’t be available until the end of January. It may depend on the school, but there’s a chance that they may look at your mid-year grades.

Most regular decision schools require mid year reports, whenever they become available (my high school had Jan 30th I believe). So yes, colleges will consider those grades. Your application won’t be reviewed until its complete.

@guineagirl96 can I try sending in my app and transcripts now and when my semester grades come out just not have my school send them? And if I’m forced to send them could it be detrimental or can I try to explain that this was a fluke?

@sd9754: I’m afraid you’re most unlikely to escape your target universities receipt of your first semester grades, regardless of any “clever tactics.” The simple fact is, RD admissions decisions generally aren’t made until well after mid-year grades are determined. Therefore, the institutions will require them and your GC will provide them.
