Senior - Full-time Job or Internship?

I'm a senior majoring in economics, but I'm also trying to complete all the accounting courses that are required to take the CPA exam. The problem is that I've only recently decided to pursue this path (I was originally planning on going to grad school for econ after graduating). Now I'm a senior and haven't done any internships, and when competing with other business majors and their super resumes, my chances of getting a full-time job at a respectable accounting firm are fairly low. So would it be advisable to go for a part-time/summer internship instead to boost my resume (is it weird for seniors to still be doing this?) and then try again for a full-time job next year? It just seems like all the seniors in my accounting classes already have jobs locked up after graduating, and I feel like I'm way behind the curve...

By the way, my experience only includes two jobs during college - one at the mall the summer after my freshman year, and I currently have a clerical job on campus.

It’s not weird for seniors to do it. One thing though. Accounting firm internships are not part time. They are full time.

I would go for a relevant internship. You will have a slim to none chance of getting a job with a good firm if you don’t intern with them.

I’m in a similar. I’m a senior civil engineering major. I only had two jobs as well: a non-engineering internship and a desk receptionist job. I say go for the internship. It may not be the norm but it’s not unheard of. Go ahead and apply for internships. I’m doing the same thing. I’m planning to apply for either spring internships and/or summer internships. I graduate in Dec. 2011 though. I don’t know about you.
