Hi, I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on how a rather sharp drop in my 1st semester GPA compared to my overall GPA would affect admissions to colleges like NYU, Cornell, Northwestern, and Carnegie Mellon?
Overall, I have a 3.6 UW GPA and a 2230 SAT but I've been slacking off senior year so far and I've barely managed a 3.0 UW GPA. However, I'm taking 7 AP classes this year. How seriously will this drop affect college admissions?

This is pretty serious. It would hurt you in admissions when they see your midyear grade report. Pull it up by the end of the year or you will have to worry about any admission offers being rescinded when you get your final grades.

it should hurt you...several kids applying to some of these same colleges at my school have 4.0's in 6 ap's...you're giving the adcoms too easy of a reason to reject you

nyu dun care about midyear
