Ok, I'm mainly posting this for verification...

If I send in my application now, before my 1st semester senior grades are out, they will never know what they are because since they don't require a midyear report, I'm assuming they won't contact my school and request one. The only way they'll see them is if I get accepted and need to send in my final transcript, right?

My situation: I slacked a bit because it's senior year and all. I still have all
As and Bs, but I was perfectly capable of getting As. My gpa before my 1st semester grades will probably be higher so I'd prefer NYU not consider these grades in the admissions process.

i suppose they could request a midyear report, but it's unlikely.
don't worry and just get those grades up. NYU or not, your senior grades will matter.

I am trying to get them up, and like I said, they're As and Bs so it's not a huge deal, but I'd still just rather that they don't see them... and if they're not going to see them, I don't understand how it will matter. I don't think they would rescind an offer over some Bs, and I guess they'll matter for outside scholarships, but for admissions? I don't see how they can...

NYU doesn't require a midyear report and they don't want one either. An admissions officer on NYU's official message boards said that a midyear report is superfluous and they disregard it. If you get in, they will ask for an end-of-year report, but your offer of admission will only be rescinded if on that you've failed something.
