Senior grades

That talk of a 'full course load' is utter BS. I'm taking all of 4 classes this year, and only two of them are AP. (Calc BC & Physics C)

I know it is! That's why it infuriates me so much because NO WHERE does it say in the district policy that you "must take a full course load". That BS angers me so much because clearly if I did not do well 1st semester, I'm not going to understand the 2nd semester which builds off of the 1st semester basic calculus.

Okay, so can anybody answer my question about the D?

You have special circumstances. Grief and travel caused by the loss of a loved one are very valid reasons for poor grades. As for when you should write them the letter: do it now. Detail a plan for making up your grades and follow through with it.

missbluesky: IMO i don't think you will have your acceptance rescinded due to the circumstances. my suggestion would be to be pro-active and not wait until you send your transcript in (in June) and contact the Admissions Office at the school you are going to attend by phone and explain your circumstances then follow up with a letter faxed to them. If I were you I would have my HS counselor write a letter verifying the circumstances (or a teacher, administrator, etc.)
Good luck! :)

hey for UCs, we only need a 3.0 WEIGHED and no Ds rite? oh yeah, do they just average both semester together? like say i got a 4.0 first semester, is it possible to have a 2.0 and get in?

They average both together, but apparently the Cal and LA contracts are different. For all others, it is a 3.0 weighted, and no Ds and Fs, cumulative senior GPA.
