Senior High School Scholarship

I'm a rising senior in High School.
I went to the Fasfa website and they have the application for the school year 2010-2011?
So do I fill the fasfa out now anyway or am I supposed to do it after I graduate?
For other scholarship programs, do I apply for the year 2010-2011 or 2011-2012?
What are some good scholarship programs I can apply to?? I've so applied to the coca cola one so far.

Thanks in advance!

You’re a rising senior, which means that you’re starting your last year of high school this September? In that case, you will fill out the FAFSA sometime after January 1 of next year (2011). The 2010- FAFSA is for people who are starting college this fall.

There’s a list of scholarships on this board, and if you have time you can look at them. Honestly – and this is just my opinion here – those scholarships aren’t particularly reliable. They’re awesome if you do win them, but there are hundreds of thousands of kids applying to them every year – the odds aren’t as bad as the lottery, but it’s pretty high up there. Your best bet is to look for scholarships offered by the schools that you want to go to. These are the ones that you can get for having good grades, high SAT and ACT scores, and sometimes community service. After those, you can look on your school’s website or talk to your high school counselor to look at local scholarships. Those are usually small, but the competition is reduced and you’re more likely to win. Even though they’re small, they can accumulate and any free money means that you either have to use less of your own money or borrow less from the government, and that’s always a benefit.

I would seriously recommend checking out these helpful threads by user momfromtexas about free ride scholarships: [Part One](What I've learned about full-ride scholarships - Parents Forum - College Confidential Forums) and [Part Two](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/291483-update-what-i-learned-about-free-ride-scholarships.html). It’s kind of a slog, but it’s well worth it if you need any kind of financial aid at all.
