Senior in need of advice with EE classes

I'm not really sure which field I would like to get into. Power engineering seems boring to me, the only interesting fields are embedded systems and communications. The communications field I'm taking 2 courses for, and the embedded systems course I'm taking one course for.

ECE 438 - Digital Signal Processing with Applications
ECE 440 - Transmission of Information

ECE 362 - Microprocessor Systems and Interfacing

The thing is, how likely is an electrical engineer with no experience, to get a job in embedded systems right out of graduation? 362 is a pretty tough course but it teaches assembly and a lot about micro controllers, and there's a mini-project involved. Should I even bother taking 362, or should I just replace it with some other course that's communications related?

I was also curious if ASIC is a useful course - ECE 337. I know 362 is the type of course that opens up a lot of employment opportunities - can the same be said about 337?

I go to Purdue, by the way.

hmm… all I’m really asking is how likely a job in embedded system design is with this one course, and same with ASIC…

I’d say there’s a good chance of getting a job in embedded systems.

I know a couple of friends working at defense contractors and other private companies working on embedded systems right out of college.

Maybe so, but are they computer engineers? Or did they get jobs based off just one course?

Oh.

At my school we combine the two into 1 major, Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE).

But I’d say they are more computer engineers/software guys though.
