Senior Math

I need help making my senior schedule. Are IB Math SL (not Math Studies) and AP Stats regarded equally? I know you don’t usually get credit for SL Math but I’ve also heard stats is super easy, so in terms of difficulty are they equal or is one better? (I’m already taking IB Math SL I was just wondering if its worth it to double up)

SL > Stats.

Thanks! could you expand as to why you think that @NavalTradition

AP Stats is notoriously easy. I would go with SL, if you have the option to do so. It’s just more rigorous and will prep you better for college, imo.

Alright thanks! @sahar1811

IB Math SL is like precalculus with an introduction to calculus, so it will prepare you for more advanced math in college. (Supposedly, some high schools top-up IB Math SL with additional calculus so that students can take the AP calculus AB exam as well.)

AP statistics is supposed to emulate a semester-long non-calculus-based statistics course for general education for non-math-using majors. It is not really for preparation for more advanced statistics or math courses, although it can give you an idea of what statistics is like. It is not generally considered a difficult course, and, at some high schools, it is mostly chosen by students weak at math who do not want to take precalculus…

I have to agree. AP Stats is not a substitute for IB Math SL (or Calc). It’s not a bad add-on course in addition to IB Math SL but is not looked upon as being as rigorous.
