Senior Pictures Help

I am a complete newb (aka noob) at this, so please forgive me.

I have found a studio (I have not visited it yet--and I believe it's called "Prestige Portraits" aka Lifetouch) that I could take my senior pictures at, but I'm not really sure what I should exactly do...also I have read quite terrible (and I mean terrible) reviews on that studio, but whatever.

I actually didn't know that we had to take senior pictures outside of school until today when someone mentioned it. ('cause I swear, until this year, every senior at my school had their pictures taken IN school, but I guessed they changed it now.) Eheheh...

Okay girls,
Do I honestly have to take 2 outfits (formal and casual)? [I am considering a more formal look than casual anyways.] Anyone have suggestions for what I should wear?
As you can tell, I could care less about my pictures, am only taking them because I "have" to and want to just get it over with.

Also, does anyone have tips on actually taking your OWN senior pictures at home? I am considering doing this, but I think I lack the "equipment."

Any advice and input would be great!

First off: please don’t take your pictures at home. You’ll make the yearbook look bad

Also. Check with the studio on their sittings or whatever, the prices are probably different depending on how many outfit changings

I haven’t taken mine yet either. I’ll probably take them over fall break

Actually, I’ve seen some nice senior pictures taken at home. And I mean, people who are skilled at using Photoshop can easily enhance a picture, and–dare I say it–make it look nicer than pictures taken at the studio (depending on what you wanted i.e. retouching). I could list some more pros about taking it at home, but I’d rather not “start” anything over nothing.

I actually took my pictures at Prestige. I only took one outfit (casual). Like you, I really didn’t give a crap. I just got the proofs like last week, and they turned out pretty nicely.

Our school takes pictures at the school…but there were naturally a few seniors that never bothered to show up or pay. The yearbook staff decided we wanted to make an effort to get all of the seniors, so we hunted down the stray few and took pictures ourselves. I then edited then in Photoshop (pasting in the background, touching up blemishes, ect.) and they turned out great. No one knew  so it is plausible!

Thanks for the information! I guess I should maybe go for something in between formal and casual.
I, too, will only take one outfit.
Glad your pictures turned out nice though. Only hoping that my pictures will turn out nice… Aha.

Ahaha! That is actually really funny. And wow. :open_mouth: I have yet to improve my editing skills on Photoshop. Really, all I can do is make graphics and such.
I just find this whole senior pictures thing “troublesome”, really.

I took my senior portraits at Prestige 2 weeks ago. i would say just go to the studio and take the darn pictures. In the studio, they had a designated yearbook velvet drape (for girls), so I took mine in that.
