Senior Project frustration!

I absolutely hate senoir project! Its my schools second year doing this and they made is so much more stressful for us this year. My frustration mainly comes from the research paper. I have no clue on the topic to write about. This year, they made it a requirement that the paper has to be ARGUMENTATIVE. I have no clue how to make animations into angument besides "Animations are hard to make." And on the side, they made the meat of the senior project period during Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan-- COLLEGE APP time. It wasnt like this last year. And our school gives out a LOT of work in each class, no matter whether its regulars, honors, or AP, so part of why I hate senior project is the bad timing of it.

I just had to write my frustration out. If anyone can suggest a argumentative topic related to digital media (animations specifically) or art, it would be greatly appreciated!

I’m not 100% understanding what the assignment is. Argumentative topic using media to display it, or an argument about a media topic?

argument about media. sorry for the confusion.

How broad is your choice? You could talk about ethics or something…

Umm…why would anyone want to argue about animations? It’s like…arguing about grass. There’s nothing TO argue.

The only thing I can maybe think of is the whole 3D movie thing and how movie producers convert movies into crappy 3D just so they can get more money from buying 3D glasses. Aside from that, I don’t know much more about your whole project, so if you could please give more information about it, I could try and help more =)

Victoriaheidi: yes, my choice is pretty broad. I was thinking of writing something about media in general since animations is a type of digital media

Exactly HeWhoPwnz, theres nothing to agrue in animations. A lot of my classmates are also having a hard time finding something to agrue in their topic. What more info do you need? like what senior project is? for the project, we pick some topic we’re interested in, then we write an argumentative research paper on something related to your topic, then create some product related to your topic and then create a portfolio and presentation. the latter two, i’m not worried about right now. for product, i wanted to learn to make an animations but i dont know what to write for the paper! D:

Woah wait, are you saying that you get to pick whatever topic you want to argue about? Because in that case, obviously the assignment isn’t really at fault for being difficult, it’s that you just chose a topic that is virtually inarguable. If so, try picking a different topic. Better to pick a 2nd choice that’s arguable and get a good grade vs. trying to argue a topic you’d enjoy and make your life a hell trying to get a good grade which probably won’t work out.

Yes, I see your point, but the paper is only part of the project. Of course there’s tons of arguable topics, but if i were to choose one, then the product would be hell for me. Either way one part will be hell so i might as well have fun with the product since the paper won’t be fun even with an easy topic. But thats just how I see it.

Anways, my friends just suggested to me yesterday that I should agrue that media/digital media influences society and people’s opinion and I could create an animation that conveys a message that I want people to knoww about or something. even thuogh the agrument is kind of a duh, think its still an okay topic?

Lol that’s not even a duh. It’s a universally known fact =P

But, if you wish, you could. The only other topics I can think of are media bias, too much power from media during presidential/Congressional campaigns, and yellow journalism. But none of these are arguable, per se. But, it’s your project! Good luck.
