Senior Project

Does any one else have a senior project their senior year? This year my school and school district is making every senior complete one in order to graduate.

The gist of it is: you must choose a profession or subject you're interested in, write a research paper on it, find a mentor in that profession or subject and work hands-on with him or her, design a project or model based off of what you've learned, complete a portfolio, and then present all of this before a large board of judges (comprised of business and government leaders from the local and state community).

If anyone else has done this, what was it like?

I wish we had something like that! It sounds really cool. You said it’s a graduation requirement? Where do you live?

We have to complete a powerpoint on what we are looking to do with our lives after high school and all of the years of high school, etc.
And we have to present it. It’s this huge deal, you have to upload assignments from all through high school to this website so people can review them, and you have to dress up.

Our school does senior projects, I’m not a senior yet, but most seniors loved their senior project, just choose a subject you love or something yo would want to try. We had people doing stuff from private investigator to scuba diving, even to stock portfolios.

I live in Louisiana. This is the first year our school district’s doing it and there’s only one other district in my state that does the same (I believe). The program was piloted last year by another high school.
