So the end of the quarter's coming up and I completely screwed up quarter 1. I'm usually a good student with 3.6 and 7's but this time I ended up with a C+, a bunch of B's and two A's from electives. I calculated that and it puts me somewhere between a 3.3 and 3.4.

If I'm applying to college this year, are they going to see these quarter grades? In the past I've known that they only see my semester grades on my transcript, but lately I've heard that they also see quarter 1 grades for senior year. AHH. I'm not sure if this would be a factor, but I had a parent death over the summer this year...I don't mean to use it as an excuse, but would they take that in mind if they do see these grades?

Hang in there. I have never known of a college to ask for quarter grades. I even asked my guidance counselor because of what I heard and she said absolutely no quarter grades because not all schools do quarter grades.

It depends on your high school whether colleges will see your quarter grades. If your high school sends them on your transcript, colleges will see them. My d's high school doesn't; they send only semester grades on the mid-term report. Since many don't use quarter grades, they don't count for much even if your school sends them.

So what would a Mid-Year Report be? I've seen it for some schools I'm applying to. I mean, technically, "mid-year" would be the semester, right? Gosh, I'm in serious denial here.
