Senior Schedule Change Advice

Hello Everyone,

I am a senior and planning to drop out of my 2nd semester AP Physics 2 course and switch into AP Environmental Science. I have until January 3rd to finalize the decision. I plan to major in Biologic Sciences/Computer Science. Would this switch negatively affect my college admissions chances to the elite universities? I have a 34 ACT, 3.96 UGPA, and Top 1% in my class.

Thanks in advance!

I would contact all schools and ask them that question.

If you had reported on your applications that you will take AP physics 2, then you should inform the colleges of your schedule change.

Otherwise, the college you matriculate to may not like it when your final high school transcript shows that you did not actually take AP physics 2 as you reported earlier.

Why the change? Are you doing horribly or is it just more work than you would prefer?

I would stick with the AP Physics if you can handle the work. Applying to colleges with a STEM major, it wouldn’t look great to drop out of the course. I do agree that you would need to contact each college and let them know if you make this change in schedule. Let them know in writing so you have it on record. Otherwise, if your final transcript doesn’t match up with the courses you listed on your application and there has been no notification of the schedule change, it could be grounds for a rescinded acceptance.
