Senior Schedule Help

Scheduling is coming up so I was wondering if someone could give me advice on any of these possible schedule combos I could do. Here is my junior schedule this year.

  • AP Language and Composition
  • Pre-AP Algebra II
  • Chemistry
  • AP US History
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • AP Psychology
  • Spanish III

Senior Year:
Combo 1

  • AP Spanish
  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Biology
  • AP Literature and Composition
  • PreCalculus
  • Food Science
  • AP Environmental Science

Combo 2:

  • AP Spanish
  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Biology
  • AP Literature and Composition
  • AP Calculus AB (PreCalc over summer)
  • AP Statistics
  • AP Environmental Science

Combo 3:

  • AP Spanish
  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Biology
  • AP Literature and Composition
  • PreCalculus
  • AP Human Geography
  • AP Environmental Science

Combo 4:

  • AP Chemistry
  • AP Biology
  • AP Literature and Composition
  • AP Physics 1 & 2
  • PreCalculus
  • AP Environmental Science
  • AP Statistics

I think it will be difficult to transition from 3 APs to 6-7. On top of that, you will have lots of college applications to complete. However, you know your own abilities and how well you manage your time. I’m not quite sure why you want to take 3 AP sciences in one year. Maybe replace one of those (Environmental Science) with a social science class, as colleges would like to see 4 years in that.

AP Spanish
AP English Lit
AP social science (not Human Geography)
AP Bio or AP Chem or AP Physics
Honors/Pre-AP Precalc
Food Science

For you 7th class you could take an easy AP, but I’d recommend an easy, fun class.

Unless you’re a super human, 3 to 7 AP’s will not be a fun transition. AP Chem, Bio, Environmental, and Physics 1/2 all at once? Not a very fun combination. Keep in mind that each of these classes are very intensive. I don’t know how your school works, but AP Physics 1 and 2 are technically designed as 1 year courses each with separate exams.
I suggest you limit your scope with the sciences.
The other classes are your choice, but I just wanted to mention that I don’t think taking 5 AP science exams (along with others!) will be very fun for you. Especially your senior year.
I did AP Chem and AP Physics 1 junior year (along with Lang and USH) and that was more than enough for me, haha.
Now again, I don’t know much about your work ethic or intellect. Their are people who could take 10 AP exams in a year with a breeze. This is just how I feel as a normal AP student.
I wish you all the luck in your senior year!

Combo 4 probably, except try to get Calc AB on there, as well. IMO, precalc is actually harder than AP calc. Depending on what you go into school for, you may want to drop AP Stat or APES.

A lot of elite colleges consider those to be electives. I know that my college doesn’t consider AP Stat to be a math class, and I believe the same is true of APES with science.

I would choose Combo #2, but with the following adjustments:

Combo 2:

  • AP Spanish - Good, shows you have mastered FL.
  • AP Chemistry - Good, but I would just make sure you can handle 2 AP Sciences. Chem and Bio are both time consuming classes.
  • AP Biology - Good
  • AP Literature and Composition - Good
  • AP Calculus AB (PreCalc over summer) - I really like this idea. It shows initiative and it will help you in college if you have to take Calc 1 again (if you don’t pass exam), or Calc 2. However, if you are more comfortable taking Pre-Calc then by all means do that. Do not do anything that might hurt your GPA.
  • AP Statistics - I would personally drop either this or APES. Take a fun class. It doesn’t have to have AP in the title. Stats is useful for sure, but I would only take Stats alongside Pre-Calc.
  • AP Environmental Science - Same with the above ^^^, don’t overload your schedule with APs. It won’t be fun trust me.

What are you planning on majoring in during college? That might help you narrow down and change your schedule.
