Senior Schedule Problems

Originally, my senior schedule was going to be:

College Calculus 3/DFQ (Dual Enrollment)
AP Literature
AP European History
AP Environmental Science
AP Psychology
AP Art History
AP Government

I am very interested in social studies classes and want to pursue a political science or history major in college. However, because of scheduling conflicts I can not take AP Art History or AP Government. I don’t know what classes to replace those courses with since the only AP classes I have left are not related to my interests. Here are some of the options:

AP Statistics
PLTW Aerospace or Digital Electronics (Dual Enrollment Engineering Courses)
AP Biology or Chemistry (Each class is two periods which is not preferable in my opinion)
Sociology 1/2 (Regular class)
French 2 (I already finished all the Spanish classes at my school and got to AP Spanish Literature, but I could skip a year in French because of my Spanish knowledge)
I could also try to take AP Government or AP Art History Online, but online classes are bit too expensive

What classes do you think are my best options? Currently, I am leaning towards AP Statistics and Digital Electronics.

Do you have the necessary prerequisites for the PLTW classes? Each school is different, but ours won’t let you just sign up for them senior year.

I think your choices sound fine. You may want to ask the guidance counselor to note the scheduling conflicts you had in his/her letter of recommendation to college.

Statistics will generally be useful in social sciences, although you can take a calculus based statistics course in college if you want.

What conflicts with AP government and AP art history?

Can you take one from AP art history and AP gov?

Question: If you are taking Calc 3 & 4 and PLTW courses, why are you not taking an AP Bio/Chem/Physics instead of of AP Env Sci?

If you are interested in Poli sci/history, why take Calc 3&4? Why not take AP stats and then take whatever else you want?

@Groundwork2022 Yes, I have all the prerequisites for PLTW since I took the Intro to Engineering class freshmen year and take advanced math.

@ucbalumnus Calc 3/DFQ and AP Government conflict since both are the same period and are only offered one period. I chose Calc 3 despite my interest in politics because AP Government is know to be a really easy and pointless class at my school.

I don’t really want to take a double period science because those are in the morning only and would mess up my schedule completely. Plus I’m more interested in environmental science that physics, chem or biology. I had the option of taking AP Gov or Calc 3 and I chose Calc 3 because it is more rigorous. AP Gov is kinda a joke at our school because it is very easy. I can’t take AP Art History because not enough kids signed up for the class.

It doesn’t matter that AP Gov is “known to be easy at [your] school”. Adcoms don’t know and don’t care. It’d make more sense for you to take AP Gov.

I agree, with your interests, and potential major, AP Gov and AP Stats would make more sense than Calc 3 and no AP Gov.
