Hi, I was wondering If i should take AP chemistry, or AP physics c pt 1 senior year if i'm interested in premed for college. My HS track would be biology h, chemistry h, biology AP, and either chem or physics. Which course would be more helpful for premed classes? Also if i went with chemistry the only science classes i will have taken in high school would be Biology and Chemistry. Will it appear as if i didn't challenge myself enough in my high school career, or as if I wasn't well-rounded enough if i wanted to apply to an extremely competitive school such as an Ivy League? Thanks

AP Chemistry would definitely be more helpful for premed; is there any reason that you can’t take more than one science course senior year? However, you’ll be able to take college chemistry courses in college as well. If you really want to seem well-rounded, I’d suggest taking AP Physics. You could also try self-studying Physics if you’re up to it.

@topaz1116 I probably could take both senior year but both of them are notorious for being extremely hard classes at my school and I also have bc calc, ap lit, and ap Spanish lit to be concerned with.

So I figure it would just set me up for failure

Ah. Well, in that case, it’s up to you to decide whether you’d rather take a course that diversifies you or will help you when you start college.

In all honesty, I’d suggest taking AP Physics and self-studying AP Chem (since you’ve already taken Honors Chem, you’ll have a foundation for the class). It will make your course schedule seem more diverse.

For admissions, many super-selective schools recommend one year each of bio, chem, and physics, so I’d suggest AP Physics.

AP physics

AP Physics C had a really good turn out this year! I took Chemistry this past year and honestly you could get by using a little advanced stoi and buying a review book since the exam is all information with some math. Correct me if I’m wrong but Physics is basically a math class right? So would it be easier to learn math or information this year? Information take chemistry, math take physics.
