does CCM have a senior showcase?

Yes they do

CCM Musical Theatre has a New York showcase, and CCM Drama has a New York and Los Angeles showcase.

No, CCM Drama has their senior showcase at Baldwin-Wallace also.

that doesn't make any sense-

CCM Drama shares their NY Showcase with other schools - BW is one of them, and I believe Otterbein may be as well. I think there may be a 4th school as well.

Yeah, CCM Drama and Otterbein MT come up to BW to do the showcase with the BW MTs.

No - they don't do the showcase at BW together, they do it NYC together. I believe each school does do an on-campus performance first, but the only time it is all at the same time is in NYC.

Penn State is the fourth school that has shared a showcase with CCM Drama, Otterbein, and BW in NYC. That may be chaging this year though.....

monkey......would you care to expound on this a bit? My d is hoping to audition at CCM, Otterbein, B-W and Penn State. Anything we need to be concerned about regarding this?

Thanks.

I'm obviously not Monkey, but I can tell you a bit about the shared senior showcase. First, in case this was not clear to you, CCM MT does its own senior showcase in NYC, which is not shared with any other school. It has the best attended showcase in the industry.

The shared showcase that has been referred to involves CCM's Drama Department, not the MT Department. As has been said above, CCM Drama shares a senior showcase with Otterbein, Penn State, and Baldwin-Wallace. There are some advantages to students in the 4 programs that share a showcase. Since there are more students to be seen, and they are coming from 4 different programs, there's probably more interest on the part of talent agents, casting directors, etc. to attend. If you're going to spend an evening scouting new talent, it's good to be able to see as much diversity as possible. Therefore, the primary reason that schools choose to do a joint showcase is to get better audience turnout.

I'm guessing that you might be concerned that some kids might be left out of the showcase because 4 schools are doing a joint performance. All students in the 4 programs that share the showcase are able to participate. At some schools that is not the case. Some large programs require their students to audition in order to earn the privilege of performing in the senior showcase. CCM Drama, et al, showcase everyone.

I believe DoctorJohn has said that Otterbein students have to audition for their showcase. If I am wrong, let me know.

Soozie,

You are right. I guess your memory is working better than mine. It does say on Otterbein's website that students have to audition in order to participate in the senior showcase.

Doctorjohn, if you are reading, can you tell us what percentage of the senior class does participate in the showcase?

I believe that all the BW seniors participate in this showcase being discussed above.

Tehnically, I believe the BW senior recitals are their "audition" for the showcase, but typically, everyone goes. The possibility exists, however, that they could be excluded.

I just graduated from Otterbein, and all 12 of us went to showcase. No one was denied, however, we all still had to audition. This is the first year that has happened.
