Hi everyone,
I juts wonder if the third & fourth quarters GPA still matter for college. I slid down from a 3.72 GPA in the first two quarters to a 3.3 GPA in the third quarter. But does it matter? I heard senior can slide as much as they want to as long as they can graduate.
btw, I am accepted by RPI and Brandeis, and I am waiting for Cornell and Chicago.

This is not true for the upper level institutions to which you’re applying. While some “slide” is indeed acceptable, too much will be grounds for rescinded admissions…

What do you mean by too much slide?
Is a dropping from 3.66 to 3.3 too much a slide?
I am freaking out by my drop now, and I could not really change it.

I would not worry about that amount of slide too much, just make sure it doesn’t get too far. Some B’s are acceptable, and even a C will not be grounds for recension generally. As alphastorm said above a 3.0 is generally considered acceptable, however keeping it at least several points above that would be advised. But really things seem to fix themselves in time, I’d just keep trying my hardest and not worry too much about it. Just don’t let senioritus set in…

Not smart, what if you get put on a waiting list? There will be a lot of that this year. A slide in GPA will all but guarantee you will not be taken off the list. And what if you want to transfer? I’d get your butt in gear.

It’s not advisable to allow yourself to slide, but as long as you only have some B’s and aren’t getting C’s and D’s, it shouldn’t get you rescinded.

Sorry to use ur thread for my questions too. I would hope you wouldn’t get rescinded, and I think I heard somewhere that schools like Stanford only ussually rescind about 4 people per year…

What counts more is the final average, right? Say, if we experience a pretty bad drop during a 5 week marking period, and then bring it drastically back up the next, that’s ok? My average was a steady A before, and now it’s a B- overrall…

geez, I never thought I’d have to worry about this.

You are correct that it is your final grades that matter. they will evaluate your final transcript and generally not check up with your grades throughout the semester… they’re too busy to do that to everyone.
