Senior thesis schools.

Is there a comprehensive list of colleges and universities with a required or optional senior thesis/research project/capstone project? There has to be more than just these:

That list doesn’t present itself as being comprehensive. I don’t know of any lists. But you can add Hampshire College.
[What Distinguishes Hampshire?](http://www.hampshire.edu/discover/11203.htm)

I can’t think of any college/university where the option of completing a Senior Project/Thesis of some sort doesn’t exist even if it is not specifically required. Check the websites of the places that you are interested in, and see what they require or offer.

One more to add to a list of those that do require a Senior Thesis: Towson U in Maryland.

Yes, tons of colleges have them at least as an option. At some colleges you can’t graduate with honors without doing one (Dickinson comes to mind). My D2 and I visited 20 colleges – I think almost every one of them had at least an optional capstone or thesis project.

One thing to think about is that sometimes the capstone/thesis can limit your options. For example, at Reed you MUST do one in your major. If you double major, you MUST do two of them, one for each major. Meaning it is highly unlikely you will graduate in four years from Reed if you want to double major. So if it is required, you should ask the question about what happens if you want to double major.

Lewis and Clark is another school which requires a thesis for an Honors diploma.

Kalamazoo College requires completing a Senior Individualized Project. From their website:

“The SIP is an occasion for independent scholarship, often in conjunction with an internship or other creative activity, that results in a written report, performance, or exhibit. The College considers such independent work a significant part of the education of all Kalamazoo College students.”
