What are the specific alcohol possession laws for minors? I'm going on senior week in ocean city, maryland and I definately don't plan on drinking, but my friends will. Are there consequences for even being in the same house as people who are drinking underage? Sorry if this is a stupid question.... I'm just a little paranoid. I don't want to be rescinded LOL.

I'm pretty sure you can only be charged if you are caught drinking (breathalized) or if you have possession of the alcohol. So, unless being in a house with other people with alcohol in it counts as possession, then I don't think you can be charged.

I'd like to see some other opinions on this though. Not sure how credible the stuff i just said is.

If you don't drink any you will be fine

I had that same question as well Claire. I am going to Ocean City, MD for senior week as well.

My school does Ocean City, too... my friends and I wanna go somewhere else, though, to avoid the crowds lol.

Any of you guys from Howard County?

Are you sure? I thought you get in trouble if ur in the same house

The OC? I'll be there too.. Some of the time.. Some of my friends are intent on avoiding the drinking scene so we're staying on Assateague and then driving in when some of us feel like partying.
From what I've heard, if you do get busted at a party, the cops will try to get as many people as possible at first and then release people as necessary. If you're perfectly sober and not holding a beer or anything, they should have no reason to keep you. =]

I'm not planning on drinking whatsoever so that's good. So many kids at my school get underages during senior week. It's ridiculous.

Well in Delaware, right by Ocean City, the law for drugs and alcohol is if it's arms length or less, it's considered possession.

i need to know this also.

can anybody break down the rules for this stuff? particularly in Maryland/Ocean City? and they have to notify your parents if you get written up, right?

i’ve never been busted for alcohol, but i know people who have, and i’m still not exactly sure what the specific rules are.

Newsflash -

At Senior week, nearly everyone is drinking. Cops won’t care about that. They aren’t looking to bust parties. They just want to stop dui, fights, and other dangerous stuff. The OC holding cells are only so big.

Mmm…not sure where you got that from. I know at least 5 people who have been arrested during senior week at Delaware beaches.

I’m talking OC specifically. Not enough cop resources to bust 1000 parties a day.
