Senior wondering if there's hope left for the rest of my schools...

I’ve been accepted to two state schools so far and BU (which I can’t afford unless my FA appeal works out). I’ve been rejected from Pomona, and waitlisted at Georgetown and Pitzer (legacy at Pitzer). Let me know what you think my chances are with the rest of my schools listed below.

Duke
Vanderbilt
Tulane
U of Miami
Northeastern
Columbia
Yale
UPenn
Princeton (deferred EA)

Here are my stats:

SAT: 780 Math, 760 EBRW
SAT II: 760 Math II, 720 Bio (M)
Class Rank: top 10%
GPA: 3.99 UW, 4.7ish weighted

AP’s: 11 in total (5 this year): BC Calc, Stats, Spanish, English Lit., and European History
Music Theory: 5
Bio, APUSH, World History: 4
English Language, Chemistry: 3

Intended Major: Neuroscience (Pre-med)

EC’s: Hospital Mentorship, Seal of Biliteracy (Spanish), All-state recommendation for musical instrument, Varsity Tennis captain (state-semifinalist team), Co-Editor-In-Chief of school newspaper, Student Government (including class president, 10th grade), Best Buddies, ABRSM Grade 8 pianist, Wildlife Biology internship with local non-profit, NHS, A Capella group Co-President.

Work: teaching tennis, music gigs

Awards: just minor school awards

Essays+Supplements: I felt like they were strong, but you can never be sure

Hooks: none…

I’m not feeling amazing about my current results, but I need to realize that I will still do well at the schools I’ve gotten into. Please let me know what you think.

Your ECs seem a bit lacking, especially when it comes to your major. Your stats are strong, so Tulane, Vandy, U of Miami, and Northeastern should take you. I would be a bit surprised if any of the others admitted you, but can’t see your essays. Chance back?

If you can’t afford BU, you’re not going to afford any of these schools either. Chances are meaningless if you don’t have the money to pay for it. If you’re accepted in an affordable school, then go there.

Are your two state schools affordable?

Did the BU NPC show an estimate that would be affordable and then the actual FA package was unaffordable? If so, that might not bode well for the rest of the schools’ FA packages (at least the ones that meet full need).

Yes, of course there’s hope for the rest of your schools. All of these schools turn down enormous numbers of applicants, so it’s nothing personal. You just have to have one of them take an interest in what you have to offer.

I ended up getting accepted at Columbia, all is good…

That is outstanding! Congratulations, @user_499465!! Hope you can afford it now…

That’s amazing!! I was going to say to keep hope, but congratulations!

Congratulations! Columbia just might be the top school on your list. You can’t do better than to get into your top school.
