Do colleges see self studying for APs an equivalent to taking additional AP classes?

With the number of APs my schools offers and the fact that roughly 15/320 kids take 5 or 6 APs senior year at my public high school, is 4 APs (for the most rigorous schedule I could take AP Physics 1 and AP Calc BC) senior year and my total # of APs rigorous enough for elite/Ivy League college admissions?

Thanks in advance.

Do colleges see self studying for APs an equivalent to taking additional AP classes?

For admissions, no. Not at all. Don’t bother. Do well on your GPA and SAT and ECs.

For credits, if you get a high enough score, then yes.

No.

@bopper is absolutely correct.

9 APs are more than enough rigor for any college. All colleges will view your coursework in the context of what your school offers and what restrictions the impose.

Your schedule is absolutely fine and rigorous enough for all colleges in the country. Whether you’re admitted to colleges with sub 25% acceptance rates will now depend on test scores, essays, and activities. :slight_smile:
