Senior Year Classes

Hello, I'm currently a senior in a high school located in SoCal.
My classes right now are
1. IB Film HL
2. AP GOV
3. AP Environmental Science
4. AP Stats
5. English 3
6. Orchestra

I'm thinking about dropping Film or Environmental Science. Will dropping either of those classes hurt my admission chances? Also, how do 1st semester senior grades affect the admission? I'm applying to mostly UCs and some East Coast Public universities. Thank you.

bump can anyone help?

Would you replace the course you drop? How many courses do seniors at your HS typically take?

As for first semester grades, it depends on the college. UC’s will not see first semester grades until the end of the year as they do not request a mid year report. Other unis will if they ask for a mid year report. Regardless, if your grades slip dramatically senior year, your acceptance could be in jeopardy.

AFAIK, most seniors take 5-6 classes at my school. I was thinking of just taking 5 classes. My main goal is to get into UCSB.

UCSB may be fine, but your schedule does not look really challenging even before dropping that class.
