Hello all I am new to this forum and looking for some advice.
So I am currently a homeschooled rising senior in High school. I signed myself up for some Community College classes including
Pre- Calc
English 111
and Economics
This will be my very first semester taking any dual enrollment courses and I don’t want to overwhelm myself and end up with lower grades, but at the same time I want to show that i am taking on a more challenging course load. I was looking at taking
German 3
and possibly AP environmental Science.
Do you all think this is a good course load for senior year? Currently I am looking to apply to UNC-Chapel Hill, Pepperdine University and Western Kentucky University.
Definitely take German 3 and a science (do you have one unit each of bio, chemistry, physics, at any level?)
The rest of your de choices are good.
What’s your GPA? Sat/act scores? Sat subject scores?
That’s quite an array of universities.
Are you homeschooled due to religious freedoms/opposition to secular public schools? If so, in addition to Pepperdine, look at Point Loma, Concordia Irvine, Calvin, Wofford, Hope, Messiah, Eastern, Moravian.
Wku has an excellent honors college, as does Unc-Wilmington. Also look at unc-Asheville and Appalachian State, James Madison, Longwood, UMW, CNU, and perhaps Goucher, American, Loyola Maryland, Dickinson, Muhlenberg, depending on what you’re interested in academically.
Have you talked with your parents about their budget for your college? Do they know their efc? Can they afford it?
Thank you for the response! in reference to your questions, second semester I was going to take English 112, Microeconomics and possibly another math. I currently have one unit of Bio, one unit of physical science and half a unit of Chemistry (long story), but my state requires an earth or Enviro science to graduate. Currently my GPA is a 3.7 and I have maintained A & Bs throughout high school. I took the SAT twice and received a poor score on both attempts (1550), but looking to retake this October. As for subject tests, math and literature and still waiting on results.
For the schools I’m not 100% sure what I want to study, but leaning towards international relations and those were the three schools that I found had the best programs. Thank you for the list though I will defiantly look more into these. I have talked to my parents about our budget and they have saved a large amount of money for my college education.
Should I take any electives senior year?
Look into some test optional schools such as
Dickinson, Bowdoin, Bates, Pieter, Franklin and Marshall, Denison, wake forest, Brandeis, Colby, Beloit, Sewanee…
