I’m currently a junior and am signing up for my senior year classes
This year I’m taking AP calc AB, AP lang, german 3, art, AP bio, and apush.
I am certain I want to take AP calc BC, AP lit, AP chem, and german 4, but I’m not sure about the other 2…
I have to take a social studies course, and I’m deciding between AP gov and senior social studies. I am doing okay in APUSH this year, and I think AP gov sounds really interesting, but I’m worried it will be too stressful with the rest of my schedule.
The other classes I am deciding between are AP computer science and physics. A lot of my teachers have recommended physics before college, but the class seems too easy and kind of boring. I think AP comp sci would be fun, but again I’m concerned about the workload…
Any advice on which social studies and elective will be much appreciated!
What are you thinking for a major? If anything related to science/eng/etc., physics will be required at the college levell. Maybe focus on your interests and choose from there. If you are concerned about the workload, look to take reg physics with AP Govt, or AP Comp Sci with senior social studies, but not both AP’s. AP Calc BC and AP chem will be time consuming in addition to college apps. Good luck!
@jcmom716 Thank you for your advice! I plan on majoring in math or maybe chem, so I’m definitely going to take physics in college, would you recommend hs physics in preparation?
Probably. I would look up a few schools you are interested in. Google X college then math major or chem major and see what their courses requirements look like in the major. Most schools have this on their website. If those schools require physics, then yes. It will help you compete with others at the school who may have already taken the course.
AP Gov is a pretty easy class, at least at my school it is. But I would recommend taking some sort of physics course before you graduate.
You’ll need physics. Honors physics or AP physics 1 would be best, but regular physics is okay.
Since you’ll have a very rigorous schedule, I’d advocate for regular social studies.
