Hey everyone! Next year will be my senior year in High School and I’d like to know what you all think about this course load!
First Semester:
AP Physics I
International Affairs (no honors or AP offered)
AP Biology
Mastery Orchestra
Honors Anatomy/Physiology
AP Literature and Composition
AP Microeconomics (my schools only offers 7 periods but I am paying to take an extra course)
Second Semester:
AP Physics I
AP Macroeconomics
AP Biology
Mastery Orchestra
Honors Anatomy/Physiology
AP Literature and Composition
I’d like to know if you guys think this is an easy course load or hard. Also, I’ve already take AP Calculus BC, so is it okay if I don’t take a math class my senior year? Or should I remove a class and take AP Statistics instead?
Thanks!
yes, you don’t need two science classes, take ap stats instead of bio or phys. I’m not a big fan of overloading on APs but you do need four years of math, if you can do this summer at a community college, that’s probably ok as well. Also, no language?
I took AP Spanish Language and Culture my junior year. I also need a Physics class to graduate so I have to take AP Physics 1, but I’ve already taken AP Calculus BC so should I be okay? And isn’t AP Physics math based anyway?
Does your HS offer MultiVar Calculus or Linear Algebra? Dropping math is not recommended especially if you are looking to go into a STEM field.
Email your favorite reach colleges and ask them. Explain the following:
I’ve already taken Calculus BC, the only math class I can take is AP Statistics and I was thinking of taking Anatomy and Physiology instead (I take AP Biology and AP Physics1 too). However I wonder whether not taking a math class would be a problem and so if it’d be better if I took Statistics. Can you give me advice? Thank you. Sincerely, … …

Are you a California student applying to UCs and CSUs? If so, then there is no requirement to take math senior year, and completion of precalculus validates lower level math courses (except for geometry at UC; presumably you had a geometry course in high school or middle school, or geometry as part of an integrated math sequence).
I am not in California. Will the impact me negatively if I do not take a math class?
The local Institute of Technology in my state does offer Multi-variable however I have heard that it is unnecessarily difficult and I am planning on applying to this university. One of my friends took the course and received a C and this has severely hindered his chances of getting accepted. He’s a very intelligent student as well and this class was his only C in High School
Since you did not name the state or any college or university you are interested in, no one can help you with your question. You need to ask the colleges or universities of interest yourself.
You should be okay since you already took the highest level of Calculus, but as mentioned above, contact your reach colleges to ask whether they’re okay with it considering you took calculus BC and can only take statistics at your high school.
