My daughter will be taking two college level courses her senior year: accounting and English. I have the option of paying about $500 for her to receive six credits for the English course (the class in comprised of two classes--one in Shakespeare the other poetry).

She plans on majoring in finance, so I don't plan on paying for credits now for the accounting class because most universities want students to take accounting there.

Any ideas on whether I should pay for the credits?

Is there an option for her to take AP English instead? My D. did not have to take more English in college after that (except there was some special 1 semester requirement for Honors program that was very easy). If she already took AP English, I would not bother to pay $500.

If she will be going to the college that is offering her the credits, I'd seriously think about it. Otherwise, I probably would not. Getting credit at one college for work done at another college can be tricky.

You'd have to talk to the colleges that she is interested in to see if they will accept the transfer credits. Make sure that you get your answers in writing.

I agree. Check and see with her future college if they will even accept the transfer credits. Otherwise, you may be wasting your money.

Fortunately, our state has dual enrollment so all of my rising junior's college semester hours and books are not only paid for but will all transfer in-state. The only thing we have to pay for is the parking permit. If things go as planned she will start at her school her freshman year with 35-40 semester hours.
