Is it too late to join EC's senior year? I mean, I'm deeply involved in a couple, but I know that, compared to the thousands of other kids I'm up against who are in 15 different things, I don't stand a chance. I just never thought it was worth it to join the little clubs I didn't really care about, like Mu Alpha Theta and Key Club, but I can join if otherwise my app'll look pathetic. Plus, I never thought I'd be an officer or anything because I'm rather reserved, due to an emotionally damaging cross-country move, and the fact that I'm totally invisible at my large high school. Yes, I have tried out to be part of major organizations, officer of a few, and ran for student government, but, due to the invisibility factor, I was never chosen. I'm also considering joining Mock Trial, which takes up a lot of time. Do colleges care?
Also, do you put volunteer activites and internships on your activities list? What constitutes a real passion (I may have one, but I don't know if it's sufficient)?

No, its not really too late...but it'll look suspicious to the adcoms if you suddenly join 3, 4 or more clubs in your sen. year. If you're deeply involved in couple like you said, and can show that, that is better then those people who have 15 different varieties. Those people only have breadth, and you can't see who they are through it. That's why actually, people who have a laundry list of EC's are at a disadvantage in my point of view. Your application has to show who you are, and its those few that you have a passion in that can show the adcoms who you are.
