Senior year end GPA and Scholarships.

Hey everyone,

So I am currently an out of state senior who was awarded a full non resident tuition waiver from OU. When I applied my unweighted GPA was a 3.95 and my ACT was a 34. I am just curious if I have to maintain a certain GPA at the end of senior year to end up receiving this scholarship in the fall. I have already accepted the scholarship on Ou-Fan.

As of now I have 3 B+ which were A’s first trimester. Also curious as to if OU considers things such as band when calculating GPA.

The GPA on my transcript is a 4.7 which is weighted due to my all AP and Honors schedule.

You can easily compute your projected GPA and see how much it will change if you get those 3 B+.

3 B+ isn’t going to send up any red flags and I don’t think 3 B+ is going to change your unweighted cumulative GPA very much, certainly not enough to affect the scholarship.

I just did a quick calculation under the broad assumption that you take 6 classes per year and they all count in the unweighted cumulative GPA ( I don’t know what classes OU includes or if they even recalculated GPA). 3 B+ would only drop it from 3.95 to 3.86 (assuming B+ is 3.33).

Realistically, you would need to fall apart pretty badly to lose your scholarship in those circumstances. Most schools will consider how you finished, but you do not need to maintain the exact same level of achievement…think about the GPA they expect to maintain the scholarship once you are admitted.

@max4545 Are you a National Merit Sem-Finalist? If so, then the acceptance at OU and tuition waiver will stand as long as you do not have a complete melt-down.
