my first semester grades were terrible. I got two C's in ap physics b and ap calc bc. It just was a stressful time for me. i applied to ucs (ucb, ucla, uc davis) and several top schools like mit, stanford, upenn. if on the tiny chance I do get accepted, especially to ucs, will i get rescinded.

If you’ve applied RD, then I believe that most of these schools request your first semester grades before making their decision.

If this is the case, and if you are accepted, I don’t think they will rescind you.

For UC Davis, you should maitain a 3.0 average. For the other UCs you might need to send some kind of letter of explanations for the C. I think2 Bs are the most they will accept for senior year.

It might affect your chances of admission, but it won’t cause the private schools to rescind you. However, UC Berkeley under their policy can rescind your application if you have below a 3.0 unweighted gpa for both first and second semester of your senior year. As for UCLA, they require a 3.0 unweighted gpa for your two combined senior year semesters, so they cannot rescind you if you receive significantly higher grades next semester that can improve your gpa over 3.0 unweighted.

So basically, it all depends if your gpa right now is under 3.0 unweighted, and if you’re willing to raise it up.

my gpa for first sem is 3.0, weighted would be 3.8
my total gpa is 3.7 unweighted, and something close to 4 for weighted.

I’m in the same exact position as you. Same GPA and everything.
