Senior year gpa high

Hello I was just curious if the senior year GPA is extremely high does it gave any advantage on accepted to universities? Like for my case I was not a serious student and did not studied very hard on freshman year and sophomore year so the gpa was around 2.7-2.8 however, I decided to study and get gpa 3.27 on Junior year and this senior year I really really work hard and currently my gpa 4.1 does this give any advantage on applying for university? Or is senior year gpa is not that useful?

Hi,

When applying to colleges in your senior year, the institution in which you applied to will only see Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and 1st term Senior grades.

Your Fresh+Soph GPA is low, however, there was an increase in your junior year and if you maintain that 4.1 (W?) it will certainly help. Colleges are aware students mature at different times, as long as you increase your GPA over time it will help your case. That does not mean you have an advantage, there are kids with GPA’s higher than yours since freshman year. I recommend you keep that 4.1, involve yourself with things you’re passionate about (sports, clubs, community service, programs/internships etc) and start preparing your application NOW if you haven’t already. Recommendations and Essays are very important, too. Stay on top of that.

Actually, many colleges will see first semester grades before they make an RD admissions decision and even ED applicants will have some form of mid semester grades requested. Yes, an upward trend helps

Right, I wrote that.

Also to correct my poorly worded paragraph, colleges will judge your transcript for acceptance based on only your Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and first term Senior grades. However, they will get to see the 2nd term after your high school sends the report which will be long after you receive your admissions decision…

Colleges can withdraw their acceptance if you have slacked off due to ‘senioritis’. Try your hardest for the entire year, even if you get denied, you may appeal for a waitlist.

Best wishes.
