To give some background, Emory is definitely in my top three, and the only reason I didn't apply ED in the first place is because I wasn't sure if it was my absolute first choice. However, with my rough first semester senior year grades, I think I've basically ruined my chances at any of the schools I really want to attend, Emory included.

Before senior year, I had a 3.78 UW GPA (4.15 W) and my SAT score is 2170. However, my senior grades consist of:

AP Lit: A
AP French: B
AP US Govt: B
AP Calc BC: C
AP Bio: B
And As in two elective classes.

So my dilemma is, do you think I have a better shot at the ED2 round? I already submitted my app in November, so I'd just have to call Emory and let them know if I do decide to make the change. My fundamental concern is just trying to determine if Emory really is my FIRST choice though. Like I said, it's definitely in my top three, maybe even top two, and it's safe to say that I'd be really sad if I didn't get in because I do love this school a lot. I guess this kind of became a "Chance Me" thread lol, but feel free to give input. I'm leaning toward ED2 as of now.

(Also, is it possible to ED2 to the Emory campus but RD to Oxford?)

The only other school I was seriously considering was Georgetown, but after being deferred in the early round, I don’t have much confidence about getting in RD. Also, after submitting my Emory app, I realized that I kind of liked the Emory vibe a lot more than the GU one.

Also, if it helps, I thought my CommonApp essay and supplementals were spectacular, and I applied with Interdisciplinary Studies in Society and Culture as my first choice major and NBB as my second choice.

If Georgetown and Emory are your two top choices, with Emory edging out GT, then go for EDII. And if you get in, no looking back…no what ifs. Just make the most of a great opportunity!

That link shows you how most of the pioneering students are double majors with NBB or anthro and still clearly have time to have some sort of life (which they used to do something great). And as you can see, some are still at Emory and have not graduated yet.

Thanks for the replies! I think I just needed some confirmation in my gut feeling to apply ED2 to Emory haha. The more I learn about Emory, the more I love it, and I’m just really hoping I’ll get the opportunity to attend in the fall.

Your grades don’t suck for a senior. You would probably get in early II or regular. I would suggest applying regular. Why is Emory so high on your list?

I would suggest applying EDII. I was in a pretty similar situation two years ago, and I got in off of an EDII app. There’s a good chance that Emory will see your first semester grades if you apply EDII, but it’s not a given.
