do medical schools look at your grades during senior year? i'd like to spend at least one semester to focus on courses that i am interested in, but want to hold off due to gpa concerns (upper-level math/physics). also, do computer science courses count toward one's science gpa?

Its pretty much like high school senior grades for college admissions. Once you’ve been accepted, med schools will tell you that you need to maintain “acceptable performance” in your remaining classes, which basically means “dont fail anything and don’t let your GPA drop too much”.

BUT this is obviously only the case if you get accepted, so unless you are accepted very early on in the application season, its in your best interest to keep your GPA as high as possible.
