<p>I had an AP calc test today and it looks like I'm heading towards a B first marking period. Will this have a negative effect on my chances at the following schools? Through Junior year my GPA is 4.0.</p>

<p>No, one B is not going to affect your outcome. If anything, it shows you’re human. If you look at the GPAs of those schools, they do have many students with 4.0 GPA that they admit, but there are hundreds of kids with 4.0’s that didn’t get in, either. Relax. Do your best, and don’t neglect other parts of your application that are just as important: a challenging set of classes, good relationships with teachers, excellent leadership ability, and a deep passion that resonates in your application beyond the grades.
