Senior year housing

I see on the VU website that housing on-campus in a dorm is guaranteed for only 3 years. Is it difficult for seniors to find off-campus housing nearby? Expensive? What percentage of seniors are able to live on campus?

I'm a bit worried because my son would not have a car.

My d graduated in May, lived off campus senior year (apt. about 2 miles away with 3 others) with no car. There are alot of available apartments, kids tend to find them word of mouth, but also with help of housing office. Many kids have cars, getting rides in or by train is usually no problem. Really not an issue, by senior year they seem to prefer this and actually we found it cheaper!

about $11000 for a double for 12 mo. when you factor in utilities, internet, water…
if you don’t have a car it’s quick train ride from rosemont train station (one stop over and you can buy a bunch of tokens instead of paying $2 a ride) or you could catch the shuttle by borders or you could walk when it’s not freezing it’s like 1.1mi by sunoco and mcdonalds

there are also a bunch of houses a bit closer than that depending on whether students decide to hold onto their current places an extra yr or so

certain majors have guaranteed housing btw

Thanks for all the input! Sounds like it’s not too much of a problem, then.

What majors are guaranteed housing? Are scholarship winners also guaranteed housing?

Thanks again.

i know nurses are guaranteed as well as female engineers. pretty sure presidential scholars too, but not positive. of course athletes have housing too. i live in ardmore, about a 7-8 min drive, with 6 other guys and its a blast. when looking for housing you just need to be proactive in the first part of junior year and you’ll have no problems
