Senior Year Internships/Volunteering? Will it matter as much?

I’m a rising senior who’s applying to colleges in the upcoming fall, but I’m also potentially starting a new internship and a new volunteering program. I haven’t worked out the details yet, but I’m sure they both won’t take too much time (two-three times a week in total) and I’ll have enough time for my homework and apps. I feel like these two programs would look good on my college application, however, I realize I’m starting them late in the game by beginning in senior year. Does this mean these ECs don’t look as “good”? Though they are new, they are both about things I’m consistently passionate about (music and communications). How would they look in an application even with the late start? Thanks guys!

Bump! Any suggestions/opinions welcome!

These specific activities may be new, but you have demonstrated a long-term engagement in music and communications, right? So this is just a way of deepening and expanding your engagement with your existing interests. That’s a great idea - and no it doesn’t look like resume padding. Resume padding is when, out of nowhere, someone suddenly develops ‘interests’ they never had before, starts clubs so they can be ‘president’ or decides that they are going to set the world record for most hours volunteered at something they otherwise care very little about.
