Senior Year: Intro to Computer Science vs. Leadership

Hello, all!

So next year, I have an extra elective, and my parents aren’t letting me take another AP (I already have five). However, I’m torn as to what I want to pick; I put down Intro to CS because my parents aren’t so keen on me taking leadership.

The thing is, peer pressure (and hype) is also pushing me to take Leadership. The class is being cut to 35 people - from around 45-50 or so - next year, but many of the people who’ve occupied major (aka, not figurehead) positions are seniors who are leaving or juniors who are running for offices that I have no interest in. However, I would be interested in serving as Rally Commissioner - which involves EXTENSIVE planning and a lot of time spent outside of school - or in the new position for ASB added this year, the Board Representative.

I’m worried that taking Leadership junior year, and not during senior year, will make me look too inconsistent to colleges (although, my lack of a steady sport also shows that…).

However, Intro to CS interests me as well, as I plan on going into biomedical engineering in college (specifically, genetic engineering, although it doesn’t involve engineering in the traditional/computer-related sense). I’ve always wanted to learn more about coding and computer science, but I’ve never been able to make time outside of school. I do have reservations about the class, though, because a) the teacher is a newbie at coding (she just started earlier this year); b) the class is new; c) the teacher’s math classes…do not give her very good reviews, to say the least.

Leadership applications for next year have just opened up, so I thought I’d ask everyone for any opinions they might have

Sorry for the length of this post! Thank you for any answers, and I hope you all have a great day (and/or night)!
