SENIOR YEAR LEADERSHIP?? Does it matter?

So I am going to be joining the student senate at the CC I attend ( I do concurrent enrollment). One of the main ways that i have wanted to “make up” for not taking AP classes ( i take community college classes instead), was to show that I was active and involved in my college campus. I am considering being a part of the student government but it would only be for my senior year. Would colleges care about this at all since it is already senior year?

Dual enrollment = Ap, for admission purpose.
However YES showing you’re active on your campus is essential. Who wants a student who’ll stya in his/her room instead of contributing to campus life?

Good rule of thumb: any EC that a HS student asks for advice on an advice board will have no affect on the sorts of competitive schools you’ve previously inquired about.

Do it if you want to be involved. Frankly at this point I tell students at my info sessions for my Ivy alma mater, that most of their profile is already complete. Focus on what you can affect: retake of SAT/ACT if possible, crank on this semester’s grades, work on essays, choose your rec letter writers.

I agree with @T26E4 …however, HS is a great time to try different activities so if this is something you really wanted to do, go ahead.

Are you saying you didn’t do any activity till now and thus if adding this will offset dearth of activities in previous years, or are you that since you are now dual enrolled you’re interested in adding this activity to the others?
I don’t think it’ll e the tipping point. But if it shows curiosity or continuation of an interest, it’s be good, and if you have few activities due to dual enrollment getting involved at your cc is very important.

But hopefully you’ll have solid ec 's otherwise.

@MYOS1634 I have a lot of activities. I founded a club at the community college campus last year, and am going to continue it this year as well. However, I wanted to also be a part of the student govt. Thank you for the feedback!

@T26E4 @bopper I just want to point out that I do not want to join student govt. just for college applications; it is something that I would actually really enjoy doing. I already have established a club on campus that has gained a lot of recognition, but wanted to also be a part of student gov to help with that aspect of student outreach.
But thank you! I agree that I should focus more on studying for that ACT again, which I’m taking this saturday, and improving my essays.
