Senior Year: Multivariable Calc H or Stats AP

I will have finished Calc BC with a 4 or 5 on the AP test. I really like stats but I heard that it is an "easy" AP. Would it be frowned upon to omit multi for stats if I am applying to HYPS?

Whatever AP exams you take your senior year, won’t be considered during admission. HYPS will only look at the AP exams you take in your freshman-junior years. The only thing beneficial about taking AP Exams your senior year is that you can waive classes in college.

Multivariable calculus, if transferable to the university you attend, will be useful for any major that requires more math than freshman calculus (i.e. math, statistics, physics, chemistry, any engineering, economics).

AP Statistics is non-calculus-based, and is only likely to be accepted for a few social studies majors that require statistics but do not require it to be calculus-based. Majors that require statistics and calculus typically require that the statistics course be calculus-based.

You may want to consider taking multivariable calculus and/or calculus-based statistics at a community college if that is available to you.

Multi-variable all the way, FAR more useful than Stats and probably FAR less calculator-oriented. I hate calculators, so take my wisdom with a grain of salt. Still, Calc > Stats.
