Hello,
I am currently deciding on what to take during my senior year.
My following options are:
AP Literature*
AP Calculus*
AP US Government*
AP Statistics
AP Physics 2
AP Biology
Latin IV - Honors
My interest is in the social sciences and humanities (primarily economics, with an addition of cognitive science). I’m interested in keeping the starred (*) classes regardless, and I was wondering what courses to drop out of the other four (Stats, Physics, Bio, Latin). I know some colleges prefer four years of a language and some don’t care, but I would like to hear your opinions on this as well. In total, I can only keep 6 out of the 7 listed classes. All suggestions and comments are appreciated. Thank you!
Personally, I think one should have one of each core subject every year, so if you need not to take one, I would opt to drop AP Stats or one of the sciences. I’m not a big fan of AP Stats since i think college stats with calc is more useful, but for your potential career path, it might make sense.
I would drop one of the sciences. Statistics is pretty important for what you want to study and you should keep Latin IV Honors for sure so that you can reach level 4 in a language. I think a lot of colleges place importance on taking 4 years of a language.
Drop Physics, Bio might have a slight edge for Cognitive Science and might be a tad easier to give you a lighter (but not much) senior year.
I am still looking for more suggestions, so please feel free to voice your opinion. Thank you to anyone who has commented so far!
