hey i have a question and i was looking for some input. My senior schedule will have 4 AP classes, including english, psych, world history. However, i am interested in AP chem and if i did take that i would take regular english instead of AP. Since i have taken honors english every year of high school, i am worried that colleges would not like to see that drop off in terms of the difficult level of my english class. I wouldnt want to drop AP world or pysch b/c i want to take those classes, unlike english, which I really hate. I couldnt take both AP eng and chem b/c in my school, both classes are huge time commitments. Any suggestions? would it be OK to take regular english if i am applying to rather selective colleges (top 30 universities/ top 30 LACs). thanks

If you really hate english, I don't think you want to spend a year in AP english. I'm sure that AP chem looks just as good on your transcript.

It depends on what you are majoring in... but I think colleges would probably rather see AP Chem. You could include the reason you took lower level English in your application. I know someone who goes to a public school and who has taken multiple A level "regular" classes. She is taking fewer APs. She also was accepted to HARVARD Early Action.

thanks... I know that AP eng and chem would make a schedule look hard. I am more worried about the fact that i would be dropping down a level.

If it is senior year AP Eng, didn't you take AP eng. this year?
