I'm planning to major in computer science and was wondering which class to take for senior year: Environmental Science AP or regular physics. I can only choose between the two.

Environmental Science AP would give me one more AP on my transcript (I only have 6 so far not including env. science AP) and it is one of the easier science classes, something that would boost my GPA.
Physics, might look better, on transcript considering I'm planning to apply to colleges such as cornell, u. illinois, ut austin, etc... as a computer science major but ive heard how hard the subject can be.

what class do u guys recommend me taking? i should take comp sci AP as well rite?

It’s not even a close call – if you’re seriously applying to selective colleges take physics. It’s a core lab science course – and the most fundamental. The notion that “AP” trumps core courses is misguided. The AP courses that matter are those in the core curriculum – of english, lab sciences, math, foreign languages, and history/social studies. If you have a choice of an “honors” or AP course in these core subjects – the AP reflects a higher level of rigor, and it is preferred by selective colleges. Taking courses based on the ease of getting a high grade rather than their core value and their rigor is not a prudent path to admission to selective colleges.

Physics, absolutely.
Agreed. Environmental, Psych, Human Geo, and Stats are nowhere near as difficult as core classes (though they can be rewarding electives in their own right).

Taking physics would definitely look better and help you prepare for college. Also, it’s not that important to boost your GPA at this point (as a senior) unless you really need it

If you’re applying as a computer science major, you should absolutely take physics. It’s a core science and it’s much more related to your prospective major than AP Env Sci is. I’m betting it’ll look a bit odd if you skipped taking it for one of the ‘minor’ APs.

I would agree. Physics is also more math-based, and it’s important to show a strong mathematical background if you want to major in computer sci. Also, in my opinion, physics is not as difficult as it’s made out to be. it has a tough reputation.
