I didn't do so hot junior year (got 7 B's), but I want to show UCLA that I can handle a busy schedule AND do well (I sorta slacked off =/)

I am taking 5 AP classes and 2 JC classes.

If i get all A's in them (a 5.0!), will that help me out?

Will it help if I am borderline in their consideration?

Or do I just have to get a 3.0...just so as to not get hurt.

Please answer, thanks!!

I’m just gonna say it: you’re not getting a 5.0

i don’t think UCs consider senior grades that much, they focus on soph and jr. years and everyone knows the best way to get in is do good for those two years and cruise senior year… because at the time you turn in your application your first semester isn’t over yet and they don’t even know what you get in those AP classes anyway… unless your previous grades are decent enough for them to request your 1st semester grades it doesn’t matter how fancy you do in senior year… also it is possible to get 5.0 lol actually 2 of my friends did it senior year… some people are so smart…

It wouldn’t matter because they don’t see your senior grades until you graduate, and by then decisions would have already been out.

You can appeal on the basis of superb senior year grades, but I’m afraid your junior year “slacking” will hurt you big-time in the initial admissions process, especially since junior year is kinda the most important year, as it is the most recent work you’ve done as far as UC applications are concerned. They do consider the difficulty of your senior year courseload, however (i.e.: APs, JC classes, honors classes, number of classes). Bottom line, UCLA will be a reach but if you get that 5.0 you’ll have a chance in an appeal if you really want to go there.
