With the new school year starting up, I would like to ask you guys a question.

I am torn between choosing Early Release or AP Art History.

I am considering majoring in Industrial Design and this AP would help, but I don't know if I want all the extra work.

My current schedule looks like this (does it look like I'm slacking to colleges???):
Late Arrival
APES
AP Eco/AP Gov
AP Lit
AP Calc AB
Early Release

Keep or switch into Art History?

I don't have much time to decide. Thank you so much!

yea 4 ap’s looks like a tough year, they wont think you are slacking. But obviously a 5th ap just makes you a little bit more comptetive when applying

Why is it gay? Just because you are forced to study sculptures of naked men/women does not make it gay. ^_^

@mccormickt12 thanks! I was worrying whether taking early release AND late arrival would seem slacker-ish.

oh yeah 4 AP’s is so slack… -.-

Depends on the teacher at your school…heard any rumors about the class? Have any friends going into the class with you?

Personally I say take it if you’re interested in it and don’t if you’re not. Many people slack senior year and it’s doubtful that taking one less AP will keep you out of a great school. It’s very much like a history class, and it does teach a few (but not many) industrial design elements if you count architecture as industrial design…but mostly it won’t help you career-wise.

It is not a difficult class in terms of ‘getting’ the material, but you do need to know how to write fast and well and memorize a lot of things.

I have heard the course is fairly easy and only requires memorizing class notes.

@everary I know it won’t assist my career with its content, but a lot of schools I am applying to require Art History credits in college, so I could exempt them with this class.

Ahh tough decision

& I have under a week to decide haha.

I’ll be a senior this year. I am applying to just a few schools, and I want to go to either UC Berkeley (I’m in-state) or Kenyon College in Ohio. I’ve got pretty good extra-curriculars and really good test scores, and I’ve taken 4 APs so far and a lot of honors classes. My grades have all been As except one. Right now, my schedule is:

AP Lang/Comp
AP Gov/Econ (one year combo class)
AP Statistics
Advanced Drama
PE

I had to take PE. I have one slot left for a normal 6-class schedule, and the only APs available now that are plausible for me (can’t take AP Physics, Bio or Chem) are AP Spanish Literature (that’s year 5) and AP Music Theory. Should I take one of them (and which one?) or should I leave my schedule alone? Will it look like I’m slacking off too much my senior year?
I have taken piano for quite a few years, and my instruction has included a good amount of theory, but I heard the class is a pain. Thanks in advance.

Late Arrival AND Early Release? Seems like overkill to me. Go with AP Art History, it’s interesting at any rate and shouldn’t feel like work. Plus unless you want credit, you won’t even have to work hard for the ap exam, which is the harder than most courses.

If I were you I’d take Early Release. Sure, AP Art History could be useful but you’re going to have to take similar classes in college anyway if you’re majoring in Industrial Design. Go for early release.
