How important are senior year grades to UC admissions? Will they see your mid-year grades?

They don't consider your Senior grades at all for admission. If you are accepted, however, you have to keep up satisfactory academic progress which usually isn't very strict.

I think you have to get at least a 3.0 weighted (or maybe it's unweighted i'm not sure) during senior year, and also as long as you don't do anything too stupid you're admissions won't be revoked.

I thought they took the first semester grades into account. Are you guys positive that they do not?

TwylaBloo, what you're talking about depends on the school (as to the GPA number for revoked admissions)

do they really look at your 1st semester grades????That's what I'm trying to find out! Cuz they don't ask for your senior grades on the UC app...on your senior classes

Someone help??

Technically, the admissions officers do not take into account your senior grades.

Where does it say that?

Keep your grades up, it isn't just you, it is where you fit within the competition. If you fail or have a drop in grades it can be a deal breaker in a competitive year.

Yeah, you better keep working hard senior year, or else you have RUINED your effort for the last 3 years. You don't want that to happen right? Of course not, so keep your grades up.

Just make sure you pass your classes senior year with at least a B average. If you screw up, they can revoke your acceptance letter.

ouch.... i better bring back up my C+ in calculus! darn teacher...she doesnt teach crap... and i dun understand anything....

Senior grades do NOT count.

That means 1st semester Senior grades do NOT count.

kthanks good luck

I know you need to manage above a 3.0 ...... will UCs let it slide even if your GPA is above a 3.0 with 1 D in 4th year math(Trig/Pre-Cal) ?

Zhou, does it mean the classes that im taking dont count either? cuz i havnt not taken any AP classes before senior year, and im taking 3 ap classes right now as a senior....useless?

I don't know if grades "don't count." It's fairly obvious that they count insofar as you will not be allowed to attend unless you keep a 3.0 unweigthed without anything below a C at Berkeley and UCLA. Different schools have different requirements. Berkeley's is nothing below a 3.0 and nothing below a C, both unweighted, and I think UCLA is the same. The others might be different. I think my friend at Santa Cruise said his was nothing below a 2.0, but guys, they count somewhat. They do not "not count." Do they affect admissions? I think so, but I don't know.

Will UCs let you slide with some below C grades? They will probably take everything on a case by case basis. Some might allow it, some might now. They all might. They all might not. The different administrations have sifferent policies. As to difficulty of courses, they see which class you plan on taking. If there is a discrepancy between what you say you're going to take and what your transcript ends up showing you took, each campus probably handle that situation differently as well. They will all probably want some sort of indication from you that you did it, and some might want an explanation. Difficulty of schedule is taken into account, as are grade trends, and if your schedule is getting more difficult and your grades are getting better, that is probably the best situation you could be in (besides the hardest possible schedule and perfect grades all along).

For those of you who say that the UC system schools do not take mid year grades into account for admissions, what proof do you have of that? Anything, from anecdotal evidence from admissions directors or staff members to official policy statements online will work. What your counselor said might be wrong, but it might be correct.

I'm merely referring to what many people worry about, which is whether the UCs SEE your Senior Year grades when making decisions.

Also, the UCI and UCB adcom said so when they visited.

Proof? They don't ask for senior year grades and they don't want your HS transcript until after you submit your Statement of Intent to Register and graduate from HS.

Senior year courseload will matter. Grades will matter as well, except it can't help you in anyway --- only hurt in the form of retracting the admission offer.

I'm applying to UCSC UCI & UCSB & UCR & UCM.....do you think they are strict on senior year grades? I had like A's in Algebra II/Geometry.....now I'm taking Calculus.....my teacher can't teach and I don't understand it.....I think I will be getting a D grade in that class in my 1st semester....

What are UCSC and UCSB and UCM and UCR's senior year contract ? Provisional admission requirements ?

I'm so worried right now............
