Hey guys, could you give me some tips on how to prepare and do well throughout my senior year? More specifically, these are the classes I’m signed up for:
AP Government
AP Microeconomics and Macro
AP BC Calculus
AP Biology
Human Anatomy
STEM Engineering 2
English 12 HN
I know it’s a ton of AP’s, but I’m aiming for schools like UVA or even UNC Chapel Hill.
Thanks in advance!
I took AP Biology last year. There is a LOT of memorization of facts/details, but my teacher did not give much homework and we didn’t have to do any textbook reading.
I started out with high 80s/low 90s in the class, but after I bought the Barron’s AP Bio prep book to use to study for tests halfway through the year, I had 96s/97s for the rest of the year, no joke. The prep book really helped me, so it might help you to get it early. Good luck with the rest of your schedule, it sounds challenging!
I took Anatomy last year. (At my high school, the class is called Anatomy and Physiology.) I absolutely loved that class; it has been my favorite class I have taken in high school thus far. However, you either like anatomy or you don’t. There is a lot of memorization and terminology that is involved with the class. The class is challenging, so it’s important to keep up. You will (likely) be dissecting animals and their body parts as labs. My class dissected a fetal pig, sheep brain, pig heart… I forget what else we dissected. We had tests every 1-1.5 weeks on an entire body system. A lot of information is crammed into one unit, so I would definitely make sure not to procrastinate when it comes to studying. My teacher didn’t give out a lot of homework. The entire year I passed with an A. How well you’ll do really depends on your interest. If you love learning about the anatomy of a human body, then you won’t have a difficult time. Even if this isn’t your favorite thing to learn about, you’ll be fine if you consistently study and review the material. Good luck your other classes as well! I haven’t taken any of the other classes on your list, though I have heard that AP Government is relatively easy.
I’m going to be a senior this year too! I took AP Micro/Macro last year. Ended up with a B+ in both and 4’s on both exams. I found Micro to be a lot more difficult than Macro. In Micro, I would suggest really getting the basics down (Units 1 & 2). I also recommend really memorizing your market structure graphs. That goes in general for AP Econ, just memorize your graphs. Macro is much bigger picture and chain reaction type thinking. Just understand cause and effects. ACDC Econ videos on Youtube are the best, they help a ton with breaking down the material in a quick and easy way. I bought a Barron’s book and it was a waste of money, the practice questions were far easier than the AP exam questions. However, I heard 5 Steps to a 5 was good. Good luck!
AP Bio- a lot of cramming for tests because of all the facts you’ll need to memorize.
Human Anatomy: Named Human Anatomy and Physiology at my school. It’s a way for people who don’t want to take physics and/or an AP science junior/senior year to take a fun yet somewhat challenging science class. The teachers are Rutgers approved.
STEM Engineering 2: Which one, POE or IED (IED was pretty easy IMO, though the drawing got a bit tedious.)
AP Gov- School doesn’t have it.
AP Macro/Micro- School has a college course for Economics which covers Macro. I don’t know about the other.
AP Calc BC- Double blocked. Former senior friends called it death although the frequently got A’s, so I suppose it varies by school.

Thanks all! Much appreciated :x
Not sure which stem, but I think I’ll be fine.
